Vote for the best “Get Close” October contest entry

Well, it appears that my October entry made it into the Top 50 and now all I need is a bunch of votes!  The picture I submitted was:

I really liked this picture and was actually a much wider shot of a bunch of these flowers.  I found that when I got “close” to the picture, it was a lot more interesting and the colors really popped.

Weekend Update

This past weekend I took an Advanced Digital Photography class with some friends from town (my bowling partner Peter, Michelle and Liane — actually we all did playgroup together, that’s how we met).

Boston.com RAW

My friend Michelle turned me on to RAW – a section of Boston.com dedicated to amateur photographers in New England.

I’ve submitted a few pictures, one for Fall Foliage, and another for Sports Action Shots… Michelle just shot me an email and told me that my picture was on the front page of Boston.com (which I thought she meant the RAW section) and I went crazy, but couldn’t find the shot.

Before and after using Aperture 2

I’m still trying to figure out what I’m doing – but in the meantime, I’m learning alot about a new piece of software I recently purchased: Aperture 2.

800+ Vermont Pictures!

Yes, that’s right, I took a total of 802 pictures on our trip up to Vermont this past weekend.  Coincidentally, the area code in VT is 802!

Not all of them were keepers, I think I’m down to 663 after the first cut, and I’m sure to zap a bunch more.  No need keeping all the shots if they aren’t worth keeping.

Printing drives me nuts!

My interest in photography has recently been re-sparked and I’m really enjoying it.  As seen on my website Dig Our Pics!, you can see that we have a nice little “club” where we take pictures based on a weekly theme.
